About Us

our mission:

At Heavy Hearted Convos Inc., our mission is to create culturally grounded spaces that make mental wellness accessible, relatable, and real. We empower BIPOC youth and communities to heal through mindfulness, storytelling, and collective conversation—transforming how we see ourselves, connect with one another, and care for our mental health. By merging lived experience with evidence-based practices, we dismantle stigma, foster emotional awareness, and build communities rooted in empathy, resilience, and belonging.

Our vision:

We envision a world where mental health is not a privilege, but a shared practice of healing and understanding within every community. A world where BIPOC youth and families feel seen, supported, and safe to express their truths. Through our programs, partnerships, and advocacy, Heavy Hearted Convos strives to normalize emotional wellness, nurture self-identity beyond performance, and inspire intergenerational healing that reshapes the culture of care in our schools, homes, and neighborhoods.

Founded by Ednaija Lassiter, Heavy Hearted Convos Inc. was born out of the urgent need to provide mental health resources and developmental programs for Black and Brown youth. Recognizing the power of open conversations, mentorship, and intentional self-work, we created a space where youth can elevate their mindset, embrace their identities, and build a foundation for lifelong success.

Through a network of workshops, mentorship programs, and community partnerships, we continue to expand our reach—ensuring that every  individual we serve is prepared and equipped for life.  At Heavy Hearted Convos, we believe that when we nurture the mind, we empower the person, and when we empower the person, we transform the community.
